
BASIC EATING GUIDELINES
• Eat 5 small meals
• Eat approximately every 3 hours
• Choose a lean protein and complex carbohydrate to make up your meals.
Add a serving of vegetables to at least two of your daily meals. **
• Drink water. 8 8oz glasses
• Always have healthy snacks ready to eat.
(Almonds, low fat or fat free yogurt, carrot sticks, fresh fruits)
• Buy fresh fruits and vegetables
• PREPARE MEALS IN ADVANCE!
• Instead of iceberg lettuce, eat mixed greens, arugula and/or spinach
• Try and have your carbs as early as possible (breakfast/lunch). Because you are not active at night carbs eaten late will be stored as fat
By eating protein with your carbs, your body won’t turn the carbs in sugars as quickly.
